Just one of the fam. . .

Anyone who knows my father-in-law, Dennis, knows that he LOVES to wear a flat cap on nice occasions. So. . . it only makes sense that Patton has a flat cap too, right?! Can't you see the family resemblance? :) And his cap makes me want to break out into a Newsies song! "Open the gates and seize the day, Don't be afraid and don't delay. . ." I'll spare you the rest of the song. Haha!
For the 4th of July this year, we headed down to San Diego to enjoy the beautiful weather and awesome company. We spent the weekend eating lots of yummy foods, going to the Mormon Battalion Exhibit, watching the fireworks (which Patton slept through), swimming in the pool, and just hanging out. It was a good weekend, but we were too lazy to take any pics, so this is all I have of that weekend.
This picture has nothing to do with this post. . .I just couldn't resist. I think we're a bit obsessed with Patton! :)

I promise we haven't disappeared from the face of the Earth. . .

K, I obviously have lots of updating to do! :). In May, Sam and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. We decided to let some friends watch Patton while we headed down to San Diego for a bit.

We decided to stay at the La Jolla Marriott, which is where we first stayed when we got married. Sam specifically asked for a room with a view of the temple. You can see it in the distance. It was so pretty at night when it was all lit up!
The next day was our anniversary. We decided to go to the San Diego temple (where we were married) and do a session there. After the session, a sealer walked up to us and asked us if we wouldn't mind doing some sealings. We were so excited! Sam & I walked into the sealing room and we both just froze. We realized that it was 6 years ago, at that exact time, in that exact room that we were sealed for time and all eternity! We both got emotional about it! It was amazing!
Then we had to walk around the temple and take some pictures. I SOOO love that temple! It's so gorgeous!
After the temple, we met up with Matt, Em & Luke at Islands and we had a really good lunch. Then we went to Sprinkles cupcakes and filled our bellies with cupcakey goodness!
After Sprinkles, Sam and I drove down to the beach. We didn't even get out of the car. We just parked the car, rolled down the windows, and enjoyed the beach from our car. How lazy are we, right?! Afterwards, we drove home. We were really anxious to get back to Patton. . . we both missed him so much!
Also in May, Patton discovered giggling! He started doing that when I first showed him Patty cake. He thought that was funniest thing! Now he laughs all the time. He's such a smiley boy!
Ok, so this is actually from Father's Day, but I had to post it anyway. Sam was putting Patton to sleep last night, and I walked in to find Sam reading to Patton!! I was SOO excited! Nothing makes me happier than to see a child being read to! *sigh* I love Sam. He's the most perfect dad/husband ever.
Well, that brings me up to date! Woohoo!! Hopefully next time I won't take so long to post about what we're doing! :)

Patton's Pool Adventure

On Saturday we went down to Sam's parents' house to go swimming. We were both (ok, more so me than Sam) anxious to see how Patton would react to the pool. And true to his personality, he didn't seem to mind it one bit! In fact, as soon as he realized that he could kick under the water, he was one happy camper!
Swimming with Daddy and Grandpa
"Who cares about the pool? Just gimme those fingers. Yummy!" -Patton
"This is just like bathtime." -Patton
Swimming with Mommy and Daddy!

What a cutie! We're glad that he liked the pool! That means we can go swimming when it gets really hot, which looking at the weather forecast starts tomorrow. 98 degrees?! Really?! It's only June! *sigh* I guess that means we'll have to do lots of swimming! :)

Lil P

You know, I use to think, "I'll be so glad when I can finally stay at home. I'll have all this time and I'll always be caught up on my blogging." *Phish* Boy was I wrong! Patton sure keeps me busy! I love it though!
Sam's sister, Sarah, took some pics of Patton a few weeks ago and I think they turned out so cute! Not that we're biased or anything! ;)
Patton had his 4 month check-up last week! The doctor said that he looked perfect, which of course we already knew! :). Here are his stats:
Length: 25.5 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 15 lbs, 3.6 oz (60th percentile)
Head circumference: 16.5 inches (50th percentile)
Patton is still completely obsessed with his hands and fingers! He constantly has them in his mouth. He's recently learned how to wiggle his fingers. It's so cute to see him staring at his fingers as he's wiggling them. He's also getting to the point where he grabs things and immediately puts them in his mouth. Ah, and thus it begins!
Facts about Patton at 4 months:

He's a pretty strong boy!

He's got a KILLER grip and his neck and back are pretty strong. In fact, our doctor was really impressed by how well he can sit supported.

He loves to stand in our laps

He loves tummy time, but he's not rolling over yet. He's working on it.

Patton LOVES watching TV! He'll talk right back to the people on the TV!

He talks ALL the time: in his sleep, as he's eating, in the car, in the grocery store, as I'm changing his diaper. This boy LOVES to talk! I wonder who he got that from? ;)

He is one extremely loved boy! We're so glad that he's a part of our family!

Patton the Giggler

Last week Patton started giggling. I started doing patty cake with him and he started giggling nonstop. It was too funny! This week I started blowing on his stomach before we gave him a bath and he thought that was the funniest thing ever. That's what's going on this video. He's such a happy guy! :)

Easter Has Already Come and Gone?!?

Happy Easter. . . a week late! I hope that everyone had as good of an Easter as we did! We headed to San Diego and hung out with my sister Em, her hubbie Matt, and lil Luke. We had a BLAST!
We were pretty nervous on how Luke would do with Patton, but the two of them seemed to get along pretty well. Luke would grab Patton's gym and shake it to death, but Patton seemed to enjoy being shaken around. Haha! BTW- thanks for letting me steal this (and a few more pics) off your blog Em. Heheh!

So, on Saturday, Em and I did some much needed shopping and girl talk. The guys stayed behind and baby-sat the boys. It was splendid! That afternoon, we did an Easter egg hunt. Em and I hid the eggs and then the boys found the eggs. Luke (and Patton) didn't quite get the jest of the whole finding eggs thing, but it's good practice for next year!

Luke would get so excited to find an egg that he'd immediately open it and eat it. Who cares about the rest of the eggs when he's enjoying the one he has now! Haha!

Sam and Patton getting ready to find some eggs!

This picture has future wedding video written all over it! I absolutely HAD to dress him up as a spring chicken, regardless of how "unmanly" that may make him appear. This is called, future blackmail! But I do have to add that he makes one cute lookin' chicken! **LOVE the hat!!**

Sam's really excited that he found an egg. . . Patton could honestly care less. He's found something more awesome than an egg. . . his own hands! He's absolutely obsessed with holding his own hands!

Em and I. . . not the best pic of either of us. . . but it's still cute. I'm realizing that the older we get, the more we look alike. Thanks Mom! :)

Doesn't Patton look so stoic in this pic?! Yes, this is another blackmail pic! Hehe! I LOVE his eyes in this pic!

Sam's caption for othis picture is, "Sam looks at the present while Patton looks towards the future." So profound dear!

That evening, the 4 of us (plus 2 babies) went to this all natural restaurant where everything is locally grown. Since we were in San Diego, there was lots of fish on the menu. Anyone who knows me knows that I HATE fish! *bleh* I ordered the burger (the only non-fishy item on the menu) and it was pretty good. Matt and Em got some kind of sea urchin soup (I had a sip and it was actually pretty decent). Then I tried some of Matt's halibut. Everyone was anxious to hear what my thoughts were about the fish, and my verdict was, "It's not bad." I think I just have to eat EXTREMELY fresh fish. . . I hate a fishy taste!

That night, we all went down to the beach and walked along the boardwalk. Sam and I were stealing smooches while Patton slept his lil heart away. It was just so beautiful. I seriously wish we could live there one day. *sigh* Sam just needs to work harder! Haha! j/k! Well, we had an enjoyable time in San Diego! We hope to make many more trips down there!

We Have a Talker Here. . .

Patton has turned into a real chatterbox! He's not making any words yet, but he's sure trying. Since we've moved him into sleeping in his crib he'll rarely cry when he wakes up. I know he's awake because I can here him jabbering away. It's really adorable! I really don't even want to know what he's trying to say! Haha! Enjoy! :). I know the video quality is pretty terrible, but at least you can hear him!
