California + Snow = Unhappy Marcie

Sam and I were TRYING to go to the temple on Saturday evening, when this is what we encountered. No the pictures aren't out of focus, it was SNOWING! GRRRR!!! Not only was it snowing, but it was like a blizzard. Oh it brought back memories of BYU-Idaho's winters. *Shiver*Snow belongs in Utah, NOT
in SUNNY Southern California!

Sam was really happy to see the snow. . .

Marcie was not! (Great pic, eh?)

We eventually made it through all the snow and we had a good time at the temple. I actually ran into one of my friends from BYU-Idaho. I hadn't seen her in like 7 years! She lives close to us and so now we have another buddy! So it turned out ok in the end. . . minus the snow part.

More of Our Fun Weekend

This past weekend our friends, Meredith and Andrew, and their 2 daughters, Elyce and Evelyn, came and visited us. On Saturday we went to the Long Beach Aquarium. It was WAY crowded, but we still had fun looking at all the fish, sea otters, sea lions, and sharks.

They even had a place where you can go and touch the sting rays. Yes, I did touch the sting ray, but I was extremely nervous! They feel very smooth! They also had a place where you can touch little sharks. Again I was pretty scared, but I touched the sharks. They're surprisingly rough feeling.

Later that evening, Meredith and I made my cranberry white chocolate chip cookies. Yum! Sam and Andrew ate like 2 dozen before the cookies were even cooled! It was fun to spend the weekend with such awesome friends. I only wish they lived closer so we can hang out more often!

Lessons Learned

Here are some things that I've learned in my crazy week:

1. Sam's MBA Midterms = Stressed out husband = A husband I don't get to see. Husband? What husband?

2. A lunar eclipse makes kids go CRAZY!! My students were NUTSO on Thursday after the lunar eclipse on Wednesday.

3. It would be more fun, less painful, and less expensive to spend a day at Disneyland than to see a specialist doctor.

4. Weekends and days off are more fun as a kid than as an adult. Our days off often consist of laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning the house, etc. Not anyone's idea of fun!

5. I'd rather spend any day going shopping than doing my lesson plans! Haha! Surprise, surprise! On Monday, instead of doing my lesson plans, I took a shopping trip to Ross. I found 3 shirts and a pair of kakhi capris for $35. Talk about exciting!

6. When it rains, it pours. And it doesn't pour money!! :)! This week we found out we had to pay taxes (cursed 2 incomes!), my car was in the shop, Sam's tuition was due, and we had to pay for my specialist doctor (he was a pretty penny). Thank goodness for savings!

7. Thursdays are pretty boring without "The Office", but American Idol is a GREAT substitute!

Obsessed? I think so!

In preparation for our London trip, here are a few things that we've purchased to make our trip a little more enjoyable!!

(1) Our "brolly" (umbrella) which I'm sure we'll use daily !! (2)My travel pillow. It also came with an eye cover and ear plugs. All for a restful sleep on the plane. Haha! (3)I bought a jacket that was very similar to this one. Only mine is shorter and black and white. I thought it looked very London, so I HAD to buy it!

(4) Our cool travel iron. It's so tiny and it has dual voltage for when we're over there! (5)Our mapguide of London. (6) Marcie's passport (surprisingly it came in only 3 weeks!)

Happy Valentine's Day!

So, it's Valentine's Day evening. Sam's at class tonight and won't be home until late. So I was thinking about how blessed I am to be married to Sam. All I have to say is....MARRIED LIFE ROCKS!!

Here are some adorable pictures of Sam in his younger days. Look at that blonde hair!!! (Yes I am missing him!)

Sam's mom told me that when Sam was little, if you gave him a hose in the yard he'd be entertained for hours. He hasn't changed a BIT! Except for maybe the short shorts he's wearing here!

Even at a young age, Sam wanted to be a gangsta. This is proof right here! How cute is he?!

Blogs are Hoppin!!!

Ok, so I think I'm getting a little too obsessed with having a blog. Not only do I check our blog CONSTANTLY, but I also created one for my classroom. I just started it on Wednesday and so I still have work to do. Some of the students' faces are covered up because their parents didn't sign the permission slip allowing their child's face to be on our website. It's not that I don't like those students! :). Feel free to comment, but remember that it is our classroom blog. My students and their parents will see the comments. Enjoy! I hope you all like it! I've been working hard on it (hence the reason why so little has been done on our own blog!!).
